Here’s the other piece of sperel fan we received from Jim at Japan Expo USA this past weekend, which he surprised us with first thing on Sunday morning. Such a fun way to start the day! The previous day, Jim had adopted a sperel for his niece, and apparently that evening the sperel was telling Jim how some of our sperels like to sometimes pretend that they have special powers. Looks like our convention adventures have had a bit of influence on the sperels’ imaginations :)
Again, Jim is open for commissions, so feel free to hit him up for some fan art (of super sperels or other super beings).
One awesome thing to result from Japan Expo USA this past weekend is this wonderfully inked and colored piece of sperel fan art which was gifted to us on Sunday by James Bryson, a fellow Artist Alley patron who was sitting a couple tables down in our row.
Jim creates great fan art of a variety of super heroes and villains whom you’re probably familiar with, so we’re flattered that the sperels inspired his hand to whip up this fancy piece in his down time. He is open to commissions, so if any of you sperel fans out there would like a lovely hand drawn (and colored?) sperel such as the one seen above, just drop the man a message :)
(He also drew one more sperel related conceptual piece that will be getting posted… in a bit!)
Looking forward to a cup of Chai! It’s my first time trying Twinings. :)
"Twinings Chai, for the distinguished sperel."
Looks like Sir Thomas Erde wants to help promote the sperels’ next convention appearance :) That’s right, the sperels will be at Japan Expo USA this upcoming weekend (8/23 - 8/25) in Santa Clara.
We received our table location just the other day: ZB07 in the Artist Alley (being called the ‘Amateur’ something or other at this event) is where you’ll find us. See you all there!
Near finished with the inking of these three sperels and then it’s on to coloring! The little one in the middle already received a quick color test awhile back, so we’ll soon be able to compare and see if cleaning up the line work and spending a wee bit more time in paint mode equates to a more pleasing finished work.
Now THIS looks like you’d expect California to!
Rufus is either currently touring L.A. or else he’s somewhere nearby. Californians: keep an eye out for this here sperel - he’s famous for being the first one to start his own sperel adventure blog.
We finally got to the hotel, Rufus is loving it
One little sperel, jumping on the bed…
This Sunday is Stockton-Con! It’s a smaller convention relative to the big anime conventions we’ve been going to, but it’s our first comic convention so we’re excited to test new waters and see how the sperels are received by what we presume will be a somewhat different audience.
Looking at the list of other Artist Alley exhibitors, we only note one friend from prior conventions appearing at this convention, and the sperels have never been to Stockton before, so if you’re there come say ‘Hi’!
Table AA14 in the Artist Alley is where we’ll be stationed and, as with every other convention that we go to, our first priority is to make as many new friends as we can while furthering ‘sperel awareness’ across the land :)
I met an interesting fellow in the line for Hall H this morning. We shared many laughs, naps and snacks on the sidewalk and under the tents.
I look forward to our future meetings new friend!
Looks like Sir Thomas found himself just the right Wookie to pal around with at Comic-Con last weekend!
Rufus just woke up from his nap (he missed dessert, ssh) and went to play on this swing under the apple tree
Rufus’ latest adventure involves riding a ferry to spend time at a beach house, visit a thrift store, see some bald eagles, eat lots of yummy food… and swing on a swing :) Check his blog for lots of pictures of his fun day.
